School

Most children with PI can go to school and participate in a wide range of activities. The challenge for parents is preparing both the school and the child for each new level in the school process.

Many people find it helpful to provide the school with specific information about PI and about their child prior to the beginning of each school year. To assist you with this, Baxter has developed a sample letter for the school nurse.

There's also a poster about PI for the school nurse to share with the entire school community. To download the poster, visit info4pi.org.

For more in-depth information, the chapters "Infants and Children with Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases" and "Adolescents with Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases" from the IDF Patient/Family Handbook are a rich resource.
